#9 Craft Breweries
I know when you see the craft breweries I've been to you'll question whether I have a problem. Anyway...since becoming a partner in a craft brewery in Austin www.nomadicbeerworks.com in 2018, I have enjoyed not only the beers they produce but the stories behind them and the social aspect. The same holds true for other breweries. I love the small, neighborhood breweries in small industrial parks where they started as a home brewer and dreamt of opening a commercial enterprise

#8 The Central Coast
Our country is so beautiful. And California is no exception. I may be a little biased since I am from here but the west coast is spectacular. I've lived on the east coast and it's beautiful too. I didn't live there for as long and I'll admit it was in a very different time of life. Not a worse time of life just different. When I lived on the Central Coast over 40 years ago I remember thinking "this place is amazing!"And it was then, and it still is absolutely stunning. Of cou

#7 We're Always Home
I lean over and feel for a furry leg or tail. I never have to reach far. I swear Portia is 7 feet long in bed. Now, we are in an RV-size queen bed, which is not the same as a "real" queen bed. But dogs always seem to expand like a sponge in water when on your bed. The smallest of dogs become Great Danes when they're stretched out. And then won't move when you try to get in. Making you feel like you're inconveniencing them. When I open my eyes in the morning I can see the smo

#6 Making our way up the coast...slowly - Malibu
We made our way to Malibu and made it our camp for 10 days which was really nice. I say "camp", a camper in a tent would question my use of "camp". It is pretty nice camping with power, heat, hot water a shower, a refrigerator, etc... No question about it. On our way to Santa Barbara for a couple of days then Pismo Beach/San Luis Obispo/Paso Robles for a little longer stay.

#5 San Diego with the Dude & Jen
After seeing my sister and Brother in Phoenix Portia and I set our GPS to San Diego. One of my absolute best friends Matt - AKA The Dude and his beautiful wife Jen live in north county San Diego. Matt and I both grew up in SoCal, he on the mean streets of Downey and I in the quiet little enclave at the base of the San Gabriels called La Canada. We didn't know each other then, we met during our rapid rise through the ranks of Mobil Oil and then ExxonMobil. We were both riding

#1 Mahoney & Portia in an Airstream
I knew this day was coming. It started on the day of Darlene's passing June 2, 2016. And with the subsequent passing of my Mom and Darlene's Mom, Betty, that was when I knew I would probably leave Texas. Most of my friends assumed it would be California. I thought it might be as well, even though I've never had an objective. Time is interesting. In our daily experience, time doesn't seem to exist. I mean, without a clock or someone to remind you of where you need to be, or if
